Fire Put out at Hewlett Harbor Home

The Hewlett Fire Department on Monday put out a blaze that had broke out on the second floor of a Hewlett Harbor home.

The department received multiple phone calls about a fire at 1015 Seawane Dr., said Assistant Chief Ethan Lahey. Nassau County Police arrived on the scene and confirmed the presence of fire.

An elderly female occupant of the home was able to evacuate.

Lahey said that when firefighters arrived, the fire was visible from two windows of a second floor bedroom. The volunteers stretched two hose lines and got the fire under control in 15 minutes. The fire had been confined to two rooms.

A portion of Seawane Drive was closed to traffic as firefighters handled the scene.

The Woodmere, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Inwood and Valley Stream fire departments provided assistance. The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
