Just before midnight on Sunday, a fire broke out at La Terrazza Restaurant on Spruce Street in Cedarhurst.

Police officers were called out to a burglar alarm and discovered the blaze. The officers notified the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, which responded with 30 firefighters and six trucks. Firefighters forced their way into the locked premise and were met by a heavy smoke condition. As hose lines were stretched, the fire was located in the register area.
