Firefighters, Police Assist Drivers After 878 Crash

Two vehicles collided on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Route 878 and Bay Boulevard in North Lawrence, leaving two injured women trapped in one car and a man suffering from injuries in the other.  

As Fourth Precinct officers and medics arrived, Lawrence-Cedarhurst Firefighters were called to use the "Jaws of Life"  to free the injured passenger. Once the passenger was freed, she was taken by LCFD Ambulance to a local hospital.

NCPD and Meadowmere Park Fire Department transported the additional victims to area hospitals. The victims were expected to make a full recovery.

Firefighters remained on the scene mitigating a fluid spill. All operations were under the direction of LCFD Chief John McHugh.
