Fourth Precinct Report, April 12 to 19

Police report incidents of identity theft, fraud, theft and damage.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Identity theft/fraud

  • A resident of South End Avenue in Woodmere reported to police that between Feb. 8, 2010, and May 29, 2010, a fraudulent Best Buy account was opened in their name.
  • A resident of Weyant Drive in Cedarhurst reported to police on April 8 that a fraudulent Verizon account was opened in their name.
  • A resident of Tolfax Place in North Woodmere reported to police on April 11 that they were the victim of identity theft when a fraudulent Chase credit card account was opened in their name.
  • A resident of Hartwell Place in Woodmere reported to police on April 12 that they were the victim of identity theft when multiple fraudulent transactions were made with their Chase debit card.
  • A resident of Stanton Avenue in Woodmere reported to police on April 14 that they were the victim of identity theft. The victim told police that they received a call stating they had won a large sum of money and in order to retrieve the money a credit card needed to be charged a minimal fee. After providing the unknown caller with their credit card information, the victim noticed multiple unauthorized transactions on the supplied credit card.
  • A resident of Burton Avenue in Woodmere reported to police on April 14 that they were the victim of identity theft when multiple unauthorized transactions were made to their Chase account.

Theft/damage

  • A complainant reported to police on April 13 that the driver’s side window of their vehicle was cracked while it was parked at a residence on Seawane Drive in Hewlett.
  • A resident of Prospect Avenue in Hewlett reported to police on April 13 that a Central Air Condenser unit was missing from their home.
  • A resident of El Dorado Street in Atlantic Beach reported to police on April 13 that a dining room table was missing from their garage.
  • A resident of Washington Avenue in Lawrence reported to police on April 14 that two sealed UPS boxes containing $70 worth of roses that was outside their residence was missing.
  • An unknown person took a handbag and credit cards from the victim’s cart on April 15 while they were shopping at in Lawrence.
