Funeral Held for Baby Found Dead at Sanitary District

The baby found dead on a Sanitary District 1 conveyer belt has been given a name, and a proper burial.

Nassau County Police Department’s AMT Children of Hope Foundation — which seeks to prevent the deaths of unwanted babies — took legal custody of the deceased girl, naming her Denise Hope.

The funeral service, led by The Rev. Thomas Moriarty, was held on Saturday at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hewlett. Denise was laid to rest at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
