16-year-old reportedly found with stolen property from nearby cars, cops said.

A Hewlett teen faces charges after Nassau County Police say he stole items reported missing from nearby cars.

Fourth Squad officers responded to Webster Street in Hewlett after a call about a suspicious male who was looking into cars.

While in the area, cops saw Joshua Mackay-Smith, 16, of Hewlett, "attempting to hide in a bush" on Hewlett Parkway, detectives reported. Cops found items that were reported missing inside two large backpacks the teen was holding, officers said. He was also found with 60 blue pills believed to be Xanax, cops said.
