Homeless Man Arrested After Allegedly Breaking Into Car

The incident occurred early Saturday morning in Lawrence.

A homeless man was arrested in Cedarhurst after allegedly breaking into a car and stealing property in Lawrence early Saturday morning.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 3 a.m., officers from the Fourth Precinct responded to an assignment for a suspicious male attempting to get into cars located in the vicinity of Central Avenue. Assigned officers were able to locate Kevin H. Lawrence, 23, a homeless man who matched the description of the suspicious male they were looking for.

The defendant was found to be in possession of property which was stolen from a car that was parked in the driveway of a Holly Lane home in Lawrence, police said.

The defendant is charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
