Incidents Nearby: Driver Killed After Car Hits Two Trees, Light Pole Near Peninsula

Driver's car lands on North Village Avenue after leaving Peninsula during crash.

A Hempstead man was killed early Monday morning after his car left the roadway and hit two trees and a light pole while driving on Peninsula Boulevard.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 1:30 a.m., Mark C. Law, 58, of Hempstead, was driving his 1997 BMW northbound on Peninsula Boulevard when his vehicle left the roadway. The car struck two trees and then a light pole that was located on N Village Avenue.

Law was transported to nearby Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel at 2:11 a.m., police said.

The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks. Detectives report no apparent criminality at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Monday's fatal accident comes less than four days after a car flipped over and landed in the woods while driving southbound on Peninsula Boulevard.
