Inwood Man Fatally Struck on Nassau Expressway

The pedestrian was crossing the street when he was hit by a pickup truck Tuesday night.

A pedestrian was fatally inujred late Tuesday night after he was hit crossing Nassau Expressway.

According to detectives, Leonires Reyes, 24, of Inwood, was crossing near the intersection of Mott Avenue against the traffic signal and outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a 2007 Ford pickup truck.  The truck was being driven by a 54-year-old Inwood man.

Reyes sustained extensive bodily trauma and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where he later died. There were no additional injuries reported.

Detectives report no apparent criminality in connection with this accident or driver and the pickup truck has been impounded for a safety inspection.
