LCFD Respond to Three Weekend Accidents

All injured vehicle occupants were taken to local hospital.

The was alerted to an auto accident on Saturday with a person trapped at the busy intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Rockaway Turnpike. 

LCFD firefighters used the "jaws of life" to extricate the trapped driver. As LCFD rescuers tended to the injured parties, two additional injured people were discovered in another car. Mutual aid was called from the Hewlett and Woodmere Fire Departments. All the injured parties were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.

As units cleared the first wreck, another car accident call was received by LCFD. In this incident, a car struck a pole at Broadway and Weyant Drive in Cedarhurst. LCFD firefighters extinguished a small fire under the hood of the car upon arrival. EMS personnel from Hatzolah evaluated the injured occupant and transported them to a local hospital. 

Later on, in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, LCFD firefighters were called out to yet another car accident. This incident was a three-car collision at the intersection of 878 and Central Avenue in Lawrence. One occupant from a car was taken to St. John's Hospital for chest pains. LCFD firefighters had to mitigate a large fluid spill and the road was re-opened later on that same morning.
