Man Assaulted and Robbed in Cedarhurst

Police say that after refusing to let another man use his cell phone, the victim was knocked unconscious.

A man was hit in the eye and nose and robbed early Friday morning in Cedarhurst after he denied another man’s request to use his cell phone, police said.

The 48-year-old male victim was on Summit Avenue and Washington Avenue around 2:05 a.m. on Nov. 4 when he was approached by the white male suspect, who requested to use the victim’s cell phone, police said. The victim denied the request and was hit in the left eye and nose by an unknown object, knocking him unconscious.

When he awoke, he noticed that his wallet and an undetermined amount of money were taken from his pocket, according to police. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated for a broken nose, contusions and lacerations.

The suspect is described as an 18 to 20-year-old white male approximately 5’6”, unshaven, short dirty blond hair and a heavy build wearing blue jeans, green shirt and a blue jeans jacket.
