Arrest Made in Murder of Man Found Shot in Car Nearby

Police made an arrest after they discovered the body of a Queens man shot multiple times in Valley Stream.

Orlando Ortiz, 31, of Valley Stream, was charged with second-degree murder for killing Richard Baccus, 50, of Rosedale, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives said Baccus was found in a black 2004 BMW 525 in a parking lot adjacent to Ay Caramba on Merrick Road. Baccus "suffered from multiple gunshot wounds" and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County AMT, police reported. His body was discovered at 11:55 p.m. Dec. 23, cops said.

Ortiz will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
