Man Sent to Hospital After Vehicle Strikes Inwood Home

Driver fled the scene after crash on Wednesday.

A driver on Wednesday struck a Mott Avenue home with his vehicle before fleeing the scene, sending the occupant to the hospital with minor injuries, according to fire officials.

Just after 6 p.m., the vehicle hit 52 Mott Ave. near West End Avenue, officials said. An elderly occupant of the home was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.

The Inwood Fire Department responded to the scene with three trucks under the direction of Assistant Chief Anthony Rivelli Sr. to check for injuries, secure utilities and survey the structural integrity of the damaged home. Officers from the Fourth Precinct canvassed the area for the vehicle.
