Man Stabs Clerk of Woodmere Store, Takes Money

Incident occurred on Friday morning, police said.

A masked man sprayed an unknown substance into the face of the clerk of a Woodmere convenience store on Friday and then stabbed him before making off with an unknown amount of money, according to police.

At 10:25 a.m., the unknown male subject — who wearing a black mask over his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and black gloves — entered at 852 West Broadway. The subject then sprayed the substance into the face of the 38-year-old man behind the counter.

The subject then went behind the counter and took an undetermined amount of money from the register and the victim’s pockets. A struggle ensued, and the subject stabbed the clerk with an unknown weapon, causing two deep lacerations. He then fled the scene on foot northbound on Lewis Avenue.

The victim was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening lacerations.
