Mom, Son Walk In on Burglar in Their Home

After fleeing the scene, police were able to to arrest the suspect.

A woman and her 13-year-old son arrived home to their North Lawrence home shortly after midnight Saturday to find a man burglarizing it.

According to police, the pair found Ervin Rodriguez, 28, in their Pearl Street residence carrying a laptop. He allegedly struck the victim, 44, in the face with the computer. He dropped the laptop as he fled the residence on foot northbound on Lawrence Avenue.  Responding Nassau County Police Officers from the Fourth Precinct located Rodriguez in a nearby yard and placed him under arrest. The victim refused medical attention for minor injury to her face.

Rodriguez is charged with Burglary 1st degree and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
