Cops: Mother Accidentally Hit Kids With Car

The woman's two sons were taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old mother accidentally struck two of her kids with an SUV on Sunday afternoon in Cedarhurst, according to the Nassau County Fourth Precinct.

According to detectives, the mother was attempting to back her SUV out of the driveway on Cedarhurst Avenue. Her two sons were playing in the driveway at the time. The vehicle was in drive instead of reverse. When she hit the gas the vehicle struck her two sons, ages 10 and 2.

The 10-year-old was transported by Nassau County helicopter and the 2-year-old was transported by Nassau County ambulance to an area hospital, police said. Both children are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a brake test.

Police said that there is no criminality involved at this time.
