NEARBY: Cops Searching for Armed Cellphone Store Robber

Man used gun to hold up nearby cellular store and told employee to get on the ground, police reported.

Officials are searching for a man they said robbed a nearby cellphone store at gunpoint, reported Nassau County Police.

Cops said a 34-year-old employee was working at Cellular City on East Merrick Road in Valley Stream when a man came in and asked about iphones. When the employee confirmed they had iPhones in stock, the man pulled out a small black handgun and demanded money and cellphones, police reported.

The employee complied and gave the subject an undisclosed amount of cash and several phones, cops said. The subject told the employee to get on the ground as he fled in an unknown direction, police reported.

No one was reportedly injured in the holdup.

The subject is described as a black man, about 25 years old, six feet tall, medium build, and was wearing a black hat, black/brown hooded shirt, and black gloves.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
