Update: Man Struck by Train at Lawrence LIRR Station

Taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to MTA.

A Brooklyn-bound train struck an unidentified man Saturday night as it was approaching the Lawrence train station, according to an MTA spokesperson.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the 9:50 train bound for Atlantic Terminal reported seeing someone on the tracks, according to Aaron Donovan of the MTA. Crewmembers got off the train and saw the man. About 10 minutes later, the power was cut to the third rail.

The man was taken to Jamaica Hospital around 10:19 p.m. with life-threatening injuries. His identity is unknown at this time.

Passengers on the 9:50 p.m. train were transferred to buses. Three westbound and eastbound trains on the Far Rockaway line were delayed as a result of this incident. Service was partially restored at 11:06 p.m., with both tracks restored by 12:30 a.m.
