Police Address Five Towns Security Following Boston Bombings

After the bombings at the Boston Marathon and an evacuation of a Lawrence yeshiva, Nassau County police officials and elected officials addressed security last Thursday with Five Towns community leaders.

The discussion, held at Yeshiva of South Shore in Woodmere, gave local leaders a view of how police prepare and respond to direct or peripheral threats to the security of the Five Towns and adjacent Jewish communities. Also discussed was how spiritual, educational, and organizational leaders can assist police in these efforts.

The panelists, including County Executive Ed Mangano and Legislator Howard Kopel, each placed strong emphasis on the message of “If you see something, say something.”
