Police Investigating Local Bank Robbery Attempt

Nassau County Police said they are investigating a bank robbery attempt which occurred Tuesday morning at Dime Savings Bank on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream. 

At 9:39 a.m., police said that a subject entered the bank and handed a demand note to a teller. After several seconds, the subject fled the bank without any proceeds and was last observed on foot westbound on West Merrick Road, according to police.

No injuries were reported and there were five employees and no customers present at the time of the robbery, police said. 

The subject is described by police as a male black in his 30's, with scruffy facial hair, wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt and eyeglasses.
