Police: Man Had 40 Pounds of Pot on Him

Queens man arrested in North Woodmere after mail carrier became suspicious.

A Queens man was arrested on Monday in North Woodmere after officers found that he was allegedly in possession of over 40 pounds of marijuana, according to police.

At around 2:20 p.m., the defendant, Duncan Jordan, 40, stopped a mail carrier as he approached a Hillcrest Place home, police said. Jordan told the carrier that a package he was carrying was for him. The carrier handed the package over, but after seeing Jordan walk away from the house, the carrier called police.

Responding officers found Jordan on Park Lane in North Woodmere and discovered the drugs.

Jordan is charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
