Police: North Woodmere Hit by Sophisticated Burglars

Seven North Woodmere homes have been burglarized in the last two months, and in six of the cases, thieves took safes that were hidden or heavy, according to Nassau Police.

Police told CBS New York that it’s a sophisticated crime operation where the crooks are getting into homes through windows or doors, without breaking in or setting off alarms. This hints at criminals who are familiar with the properties.

Investigators will be looking at service companies such as landscapers or Sandy workers that the victims may have in common. Patrols in the neighborhood have also been ramped up, CBS reports.
