Police: Teens Fought and Injured Officers

Cops were responding to a larceny in progress at that location.

Two teens were arrested Saturday night after they allegedly fought with officers who were responding to a robbery call at their location, according to police.

At 9:50 p.m., officers saw Michael Davidson, 17, of Valley Stream, and a 16-year-old Cedarhurst resident, on Rugby Road in Cedarhurst, the location of a call for a larceny in progress. Davidson was allegedly “immediately belligerent” to the officers, police said, and he and the 16-year-old were “physically combative” when officers attempted to first restrain, then arrest them.

One officer sustained a fracture to his right hand and another officer sustained a laceration and sprain to his right knee during the incident. Both officers were taken to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

During the investigation, officers found that Davidson was in possession of a wallet belonging to an employee of the Starbucks at 316 Rockaway Turnpike in Cedarhurst that was taken earlier in the day.

Davidson is charged with two counts of assault in the second degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree. The 16-year-old is charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree. They are scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
