Police: Teen Punched, Robbed in Cedarhurst [Updated]

Suspects still at large after Wednesday evening assault.

Editor's note: The police have updated the age of the victim.

A teen girl was punched in the face and then robbed by two suspects Wednesday evening in Cedarhurst.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 6:45 p.m., while walking in the vicinity of 430 Central Ave., a 15-year-old girl was grabbed by two Hispanic males who were hiding out in an alley.

As one of the suspects grabbed the victim's handbag, the other suspect punched her in the face near her eye, police said. After removing the contents of her bag, which included cash, gift cards and an iPhone, the suspects fled the scene.

The victim, who was only able to further describe the suspects as wearing dark-colored clothing with hoodies, refused medical attention for her injury, police said.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Where are the Fourth Precinct police? Its about time they stop reacting to crimes that have already been committed and start formulating plans to prevent them in the first place.
