Queens Man Arrested for Attempted CVS Robbery in Hewlett

The defendant allegedly presented several forged credit and gift cards before attacking an employee.

A Queens man was arrested in Hewlett for allegedly trying to pass forged credit and gift cards at a local CVS.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 6 p.m, Sydney Abraham, 22, of Queens, presented several forged credit and gift cards for payment at the located at 1220 Peninsula Blvd. in Hewlett. A store employee became suspicious after the cards were rejected and notified the police.

Abraham then went behind the counter and attacked the 22-year-old female employee, causing her to sustain an injury to her back, police said. Two other employees came to her aid and attempted to restrain Abraham, but were also injured.

According to police, responding officers arrested Abraham at the scene of the incident.

The three CVS employees were taken to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Abraham is being charged with robbery in the second degree, burglary in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and two counts of identity theft in the second degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
