"All but 80 of those customers have been restored," Gross said. "Crews are currently working to fix the problem. The affected area is Beach Street between Jefferson and Albany."

As of 8:21 p.m., 272 out of 2,026 Atlantic Beach residents are without power, according to the authority’s website.

Some 127 households in Woodmere are without power and so are less than 100 residents in Lawrence and Cedarhurst. It’s unclear if those outages are related to the faulty wire.

Earlier, there was a fire at a pumping station that is not a LIPA facility, according to Gross. The fire occurred at Beech Street and Yates Avenue and was actively burning, according to Chief Joseph Sperber. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and called LCFD to assist with a pumper truck.
