Two Arrested After Robbery in Inwood

Nassau Police nab two teens for robberies in the Five Towns area.

Two Far Rockaway teens were arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred in Inwood Thursday night.

According to detectives, Kimani Jones 18, and Joseph Vives 18, approached a 21-year-old male victim on Wanser Avenue near Church Street. Defendant Jones allegedly grabbed a silver necklace from the victim’s neck and started to walk away. When the victim attempted to retrieve his property both defendants then punched and struck him, police said. The defendants then allegedly fled the scene in a light colored Ford Edge with New Jersey registration plates. The victim was not injured.

The following evening, a police detective observed the defendants and vehicle in North Woodmere where they were taken into custody. According to police, Vives misrepresented himself to police upon arrest.

Vives is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree and False Impersonation. Jones is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree.

Additionally, Jones is charged with Robbery 3rd Degree for an incident that occurred in Lawrence on Wednesday. Both defendants will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
