Adoptable Animal of the Week: Meet Medley

This sweet and friendly boy is ready to find his forever home.

Name: Medley

Case Number: 1677

My name is Medley, and I am a sweet, friendly dude. I am an Old Dutch Shep Mix. I love everyone, even the most unusual of strangers, and relish being petted and massaged.

I’m such a social butterfly that I might well make a great therapy pet with a little training. Though I’m not terribly playful now, I may become more so once I move out of the where I've been living, and into a loving home.

I am a little uncomfortable with some handling (muzzle), and though I don’t love having to give up my food, I will if I have to. Due to my mild discomfort around the food bowl, I should be in an experienced household with tweens and up.

I am playful with other dogs, am very respectful of them, and will enjoy their company immensely! I have lived with other dogs in the past.
I don't know any basic commands, but I'm eager to learn for a taste of my favorite treats. I definitely need to learn to walk nicely on leash and not to be jumpy.

I am very stressed and unsettled in the shelter environment because I have been here for so very long.

If you're interested in adopting Medley, contact the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at (516) 785-5220 or come in for a visit. The shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. Adoption hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, will receive all required innoculations and will be microchipped, all free of charge.

From June 20 to Sept 20, the shelter is running its "Summer of Love" promotion, which means all adoptions are free!
