Capping off Two Decades of Service to Woodsburgh

The Village of Woodsburgh board honored former Mayor Susan Schlaff for her two decades of service to the community.

New Mayor Lee Israel presented Schlaff with a plaque to mark the occasion.

“Her accomplishments, dedication and friendship to the village will never be forgotten,” Israel said.
Schlaff moved from Belle Harbor to Woodsburgh with husband Steven in 1981. Her three children attended Hewlett-Woodmere schools. Susan Schlaff became active in the village in the mid 1980s and also served as a commissioner at TVASNAC.

Schlaff ran for trustee in 1987 with Jack Libert and became deputy mayor when Libert was Mayor. After Libert retired in the early 1990s, Schlaff was elected Mayor.

According to Israel, she was the first female mayor of the village and also the longest serving mayor.
