Cedarhurst Passes $5.3M Budget

The Village of Cedarhurst recently passed a budget with a slightly higher tax levy than last year’s fiscal plan.

The 2013-2014 budget has total appropriations of $5,322,074 with a tax cap levy of $1,573,620 — only about $5,000 higher than last year’s and within the 2 percent state tax cap.

“Appropriations have increased due to uncontrollable unfunded mandates,” Cedarhurst Trustee and Budget Officer Ronald Lanzilotta wrote. “The village was able to keep the tax increase in the general fund at the 2 percent tax cap, due to its ability to maintain a tightly structured budget, absorbing most of the built-in increases caused by the requirements to maintain our infrastructure, services and normal labor and fringe benefits. This has been accomplished by the village obtaining various grants and through other revenue sources.”
