Commissioners Run Unopposed in Fire, Water District Elections

Polls will be open tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. in most districts.

Several Five Towns fire districts as well as the Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District will hold voting tonight on new terms for their commissioners, who are all running unopposed.

Polls will be open for positions in the Atlantic Beach, Hewlett Bay, Inwood, Meadowmere Park, North Lawrence and Woodmere fire districts. Voting will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in all districts except Hewlett Bay, where polls open at 5 p.m. Fire commissioner terms run five years and expire on Dec. 31. Here are the candidates seeking new terms:

Atlantic Beach: Incumbent — Jeffrey Trottat / Polls at rescue headquarters at One Rescue Rd.

Hewlett Bay: Incumbent — Pat Tudda / Polls at the firehouse at 25 Franklin Ave. / Ballot initiative — changing treasurer from an elected position to an appointed position starting Jan. 1, 2015

Inwood: Incumbent — Mark L. Rolon / Polls at the firehouse at 188 Doughty Blvd.

Meadowmere Park: Incumbent — Ed Samuelson / Polls at the firehouse at 14 Meyer Ave.

North Lawrence: Incumbent — Vincent Leone / Polls at the Five Towns Community Center at 270 Lawrence Ave.

Woodmere: Incumbent — David Miller / Polls at the firehouse at 20 Irving Pl.

Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District: Incumbent Scott Mason (governing board chair) for a new three-year term / Polls at rescue headquarters at One Rescue Rd.
