Community Meeting/Tax Forum

Hempstead Town Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin will bring the Town Hall to the Five Towns when they host a Community Meeting and Tax Forum on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Hewlett Bay Fire District Fire House, which is located at 25 Franklin Avenue, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, Hewlett.

“Input from residents is essential in maintaining an effective representative government,” said Councilman Santino. “We must keep communication flowing between the town government and its citizens. It points us in the right direction for serving the needs of the community. I look forward to a large turnout of our neighbors from the Five Towns.”

Representatives from many Town of Hempstead departments will be on hand at the meeting to discuss any issues concerning Five Towns residents. In addition, valuable information about tax reduction programs in which the town participates will be available.

“Tax forums are just another way that Hempstead Town is keeping residents informed so they do not have to pay one penny more in taxes than they should,” noted Clavin.

“In the past, town hall meetings have been the genesis of many improvements in the Five Towns community. While the town representatives hold jurisdiction over unincorporated sections of the Five Towns, we often join officials from the county and incorporated villages when working to address local issues,” concluded Councilman Santino. “I encourage all Five Towns residents to attend the January 19th meeting to hear updates on current projects, address any concerns and learn how they might reduce their tax burdens.”
