Five Towns Democratic Club Meeting

Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (Dem Merrick) will speak at the Five Towns Democratic Club’s regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 PM at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library, Hewlett.

Legislator Denenberg’s position in regards to the sewage treatment plants and public vs. private water are the same: private companies should not own public necessities.

Private companies are more concerned with making money and will only do the minimum required in order to maximize profits. Public companies, on the other hand, have more oversight and public input with lower costs to residents. (For example, town residents serviced by Aqua Water are paying more than twice as much for water as town residents serviced by public water. Aqua ratepayers pay the highest rates in the country.)

There will also be a brief presentation by the Nassau County Coalition of Civics about the Nassau County Executive’s proposal to sell or lease the Cedar Creek, Bay Park and Glen Cove Sewage Treatment Plants.  For more information on this issue you can go to their Facebook page “We the People Save our Water.”

All are invited to hear Mr. Denenberg. Q&A will follow.  There is no admission charge for this meeting.
