Expect More 878 Delays as Roadwork Continues

Five Towns residents should expect more delays on the 878 as the county continues its sewage plant project.

"The ongoing operation to connect the county’s system with the Inwood Sewage Treatment Plant involves installation of about 800 feet of 20 inch pipe and a few manholes along 878 and crossing a section of Bay Boulevard, then reinstallation of the guard rail and restoration of the entire area," Mike Martino, spokesman for the county public works department, told Patch. "We are anticipating finishing up in the middle of July, striving for an earlier opening if possible."
