A tax deadline extension has been approved by the governor for several school districts, including Hewlett-Woodmere.
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Donald X. Clavin, Jr. had requested the extension for all school districts within the township, however the governor has signed an order that only includes districts which have independently requested an extension.
Accordingly, residents of the Hewlett-Woodmere School District may pay their school taxes, without penalty, until Dec. 4.
The Lawrence School District's request for an extension of 21 days for school taxes was granted on Monday, according to board president Dr. Asher Mansdorf.
Residents of all other districts in Hempstead Town must make their payments by not later than Tuesday, Nov. 13, to avoid incurring a penalty.
