Ford Keeps Seat in Legislature

Long Beach Democrat ran unopposed in 4th District.

Denise Ford kept her seat as legislator for Nassau County's 4th District, which includes of Long Beach, Lawrence, parts of Hewlett, Woodsburgh, and Atlantic Beach.

Ford ran unopposed for the seat she has kept for the past decade. She garnered 13,834 votes Tuesday, with 100 percent of the votes counted.

Ford, D-Long Beach, grew up in Howard Beach attended Queens College. She didn't finish her degree, but became a technician for New York Telephone for 26 years. She has three children and has lived in the West End of Long Beach for 33 years.

Ford made her hometown's recovery her prime focus after Hurricane Sandy, saying, "Everybody needs to get back in their homes. And we're looking at our businesses, getting them back," according to Newsday.
