Golf Discount at North Woodmere Park

County offers reduced prices for golf on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced that the Nassau County 9-hole golf courses at North Woodmere Park and Cantiague Park will be offering a special discount for Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, Jan. 19-21.

The special rates are as follows:

Resident, with Leisure Pass — $8.50 per round
Golf Cart — $10.00

Non-Resident — $25 per round
Golf Cart — $19

Each of the nine-hole courses provide a slightly different playing experience.  At 2,282 yards, North Woodmere’s course is the largest of the nine holes, with four holes over 300 yards, two of which approach 400 yards.  Cantiague Park’s golf course is centrally located in Hicksville and offers a flat and easy-to-traverse property, with total yardage of 1,878. Cantiague Park, (516) 571-7061, and North Woodmere Park, (516) 571-7814, are the only two 9-hole courses that remain open year round.

My 10 year old son and I are new to golf and we've never been on a course, just the driving range and mini golf courses. What is the ettiquet as far as when we should get on a course? I'd hate to have a group behind us as we shoot a 72, on a 9 hole course. Can I ask for a tee time with noone behind us for about an hour?

What a great hobby to learn together, Chris! I would call the course today and see what they recommend. I'm sure they can accommodate you guys. Have fun! Jaime Sumersille Regional Editor, Nassau County

Do they still offer a firefighter's discount?
