Hewlett Harbor Trustee Says Expect the Worst

Village staff will be on hand to help residents.

The Village of Hewlett Harbor will have its maintenance and security staff patrolling the streets to help keep roads clear or in case anything comes up, according to a trustee.

“We’ve already sent out via phone that if anyone is sick or can’t take care of themselves to take action now,” said Trustee Tom Cohen. “For people staying in the village, they should make sure they have ample supplies.”

Residents who live by the water should anticipate an earlier evacuation, he said. Cohen also warned that the county’s evacuation route could be clogged with thousands of fleeing residents.
