Mangano Announces Tentative Lease Deal on New Isles Arena

If all goes according to plan, the New York Islanders will have a new arena at which to play for the next 30 years.

At a joint press conference on Wednesday, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Islanders owner Charles Wang announced that they had reached a tentative agreement on a lease deal that will keep Long Island's only professional sports team in Uniondale until 2045.

The two parties await the result of the Aug. 1 community vote on the Economic Development and Job Creation Plan proposal, which would give the county authorization to borrow $400 million to build a new hockey arena and minor league ballpark on the Nassau Coliseum property.
