Question of the Day: What Do You Think of This Political Ad?

Sound off on a daily topic.

The pictured ad was recently placed in Five Towns papers by the Nassau County Democratic Committee and claims that Legis. Howard Kopel, R-Lawrence, agreed to give a sweetheart deal to Islanders owner Charles Wang by green-lighting a public vote on a new coliseum — but Kopel never approved the election.

The legislator was absent from the legislature session where the measure for the Aug. 1 vote was given the green light, according to the meeting minutes.

Matt Coleman, Kopel’s campaign manager, called the ad a “desperate attempt to smear” the legislator during an election year.

We want to know: Do you agree with Coleman that the NCDC unfairly attacked Kopel? Or is he fair game because his fellow Republicans in the legislature, along with Democrat Dave Denenberg, approved the measure to allow the vote? Is this just politics as usual?
