T-Mobile Withdraws Application for Hewlett Neck Tower

Village returns fees a year after it ended moratorium on wireless facilities.

About a year after ended its on cell towers in the village, T-Mobile has withdrawn its application to construct a facility at the , officials announced at Tuesday’s board meeting.

“T-Mobile has decided not to pursue a site at this time,” the company wrote in a letter dated Dec. 20 to the village. “We would like to withdraw the entire application without prejudice to be able to re-file in the future.”

The village returned $3,945 in fees to the cell company as part of the withdrawal.  T-Mobile also retrieved its $8,000 deposit.

Although several Hewlett Neck residents have voiced to the project, trustees have always been lukewarm to the application over the past year. Mayor Stuart Troyetsky has been to point out that T-Mobile must meet the requirements set forth by the village code.
