A Garden Grows in Hewlett

Hewlett High School student-led project officially unveiled.

The Hewlett-Woodmere Schools Community Garden Learning Center was officially unveiled to the public on Monday after nearly two years of planning, planting and growing.

Students and their families as well as community members have grown vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, eggplants and radishes in the field across from Hewlett High School. One of the goals of the garden is to teach students sustainable living.

Vegetables from the garden have also been donated to the Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead.
