Free Dog Education Class

Long Island Pet Professionals, LLC, based in Islip, NY, is thrilled to announce that the Canine Company has once again joined together to offer the Free Responsible Dog Ownership Program for the 5th year!

Canine Company is providing the sponsorship for the monthly classes to continue, but this year instead of only offering the classes within the Town of Islip, the program will now be offered across Long Island in various locations for the next 12 months (June 2012 – June 2013).

“We had a great 4 year run with the Town of Islip, in which I introduced the program to them in 2008, but with the recent budgetary difficulties the Town is facing they could not offer it for the 5th year. However, Canine Company has signed on this year as the presenting sponsor for the Long Island Pet Professionals program and we are now able to offer the monthly class all across Long Island – which is so wonderful.

This program is so important for dog owners to be able to learn about responsible dog ownership and that the class remained free for anyone to attend was very important to me. We want any dog owner who wants to learn to be a better, more educated, well informed dog owner to attend, and not have to worry about a fee for the class,” said Nancy E. Hassel, Founder and President of Long Island Pet Professionals and creator of this program. “Canine Company does so much for so many people in the pet community; they really go out of their way to give back and on a continual basis.

I am delighted to continue to work with such a dedicated and professional company for this program. Canine Company, have been ardent supporters for the past 4 years and I can’t thank them enough.” “Canine Company has focused on keeping pets safe at home for over 29 years,” stated Jennifer Hill, President of the Canine Company. “We are proud to continue our sponsorship of Long Island Pet Professionals Responsible Dog Ownership Program on Long Island. It’s a perfect way for residents to learn the important responsibilities of dog ownership and build happy pet relationships.”

The once-a-month, three-hour classes are designed to help educate dog owners learn about basic puppy and dog behavior, training tools and techniques, children and dog safety, dog park etiquette, health and nutrition and New York State and local town dog laws. But the twist with the class is that it is for people ONLY!

The class is intended for the pet owners to learn without the cuteness distraction of their dogs. The class has drawn people from all walks of life and parents are encouraged to bring children over the age of 8. Hassel also said, “This class is a great opportunity for dog owners and about-to-be dog owners to learn from dog experts and professionals in order to understand their dogs and their behaviors better and have fun in the class at the same time.

There is a lot of laughter and learning throughout each class! We have taught over 2,000 people in the past 4 years and we are looking forward to another great year of educating!" As a thank you for coming, participants will each receive a FREE goody bag, loaded with essential and fun items for dog owners.

An RSVP is required for all attendees as space is limited.
