Five Towns Kiwanis Award Scholarships to Area Students

The Five Towns Kiwanis Club recently handed out scholarships to students from , and Lynbrook high schools who are not only good students but have helped out their communities.

“This community always needs help,” said Syd Mandelbaum, head of Rock! and Wrap It Up and a member of the club. “It starts with you. We are investing in you.”

The 11 students thanked the group for the scholarships and announced to the crowd their college plans. Click through the pictures above to see the recipients and some of their accomplishments.

Lawrence High School students, including award recipient Kwadwo Agyapong, also thanked the club for contributing to the music program’s trip to Disney World in Florida.

“It was an absolutely amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world,” Agyapong said.

The Five Towns Kiwanis, whose highest priority is helping children, are always looking for new members. The club meets on Thursday at in Lawrence.

Samantha Goldberg, of Lynbrook High School

• Member of National Honor Society and Art Honor Society. On high honor roll each consecutive term of high school; Member of Skip Club, Key Club and Spanish Club, Classnight Dance Captain; Competed on golf and swim teams; Volunteer at Five Towns Community Chest, JCC of the Greater Five Towns and B’nai B’Rith Youth Organization
