Formal Announcement Coming on Reopening of Lawrence HS

Students may return to that building toward the end of the month.

Repairs are on schedule at Lawrence High School and students may return to that building toward the end of the month, according to the superintendent.

Gary Schall said that he would most likely make a formal announcement regarding the reopening of the building on Tuesday.

Students may return to Lawrence High School, which had been shuttered in mid January because it’s electrical system was in danger of failing, on Monday, March 25. That date was selected to cause the least amount of disruption to instruction, since it’s the beginning of the week.

Meanwhile, Lawrence resident Mark Mundell, whose children go to the middle school, raised concerns to Patch about a possible safety issue on Broadway during pickup and drop-off times at Lawrence Middle School, where now also houses the high school students.

“With drop offs and pickups occurring on both sides of the street,” he said. “I am concerned that the situation is ripe for an accident to happen.”
