The Hewlett-Woodmere Board of Education on Wednesday approved a 2013-14 school year calendar that has an earlier start for students to provide flexibility in case of weather-related school closings later in the school year, according to a school memo.
Holidays fall earlier on the calendar this year, with Labor Day on Sept. 2. School in the Hewlett-Woodmere school district will start the day after.
Superintendent Dr. Joyce Bisso said the calendar isn’t perfect, but it’s “the best compromise choice.”
