Hewlett-Woodmere Approves 2013-14 Calendar

Students will get an earlier start next school year.

The Hewlett-Woodmere Board of Education on Wednesday approved a 2013-14 school year calendar that has an earlier start for students to provide flexibility in case of weather-related school closings later in the school year, according to a school memo.

Holidays fall earlier on the calendar this year, with Labor Day on Sept. 2. School in the Hewlett-Woodmere school district will start the day after.

Superintendent Dr. Joyce Bisso said the calendar isn’t perfect, but it’s “the best compromise choice.”

The full calendar is attached to this article.

For those that are not self employed or independently wealthy, start saving up your vacatons days. You're going to need them this school year.
