JM in the AM Host Chats with HAFTR Members

Nachum Segal's radio program gets its own day in the Five Towns.

HAFTR ushered in the Purim holiday from in Cedarhurst on Tuesday with renowned radio host Nachum Segal, who welcomed students, faculty members, alumni and administrators to his JM in the AM radio program.

Segal interviewed HAFTR principals, prominent alumni such as Lawrence Burian, who serves as the general counsel for Madison Square Garden, and extraordinary students including Senior Hillel Friedman. Nassau County Legislator Howard Kopel stopped by the show to present Segal with a special citation proclaiming the day as JM in the AM in the Five Towns.

The HAFTR guests shared with Segal their incredible experiences at HAFTR in their various roles as students, parents and administrators. They each explained that HAFTR is in the midst of an exciting renaissance, improving its facilities and enhancing the curriculum grade-wide.

After the show, Segal visited ’s eighth grade students to discuss with them the importance of media in shaping one’s message to the public.

Rebbitzin Aviva Feiner spoke to seventh grade students and their mothers.  After a little “chavruta" time (partnered learning) in the newly renovated HAFTR Middle School Beit Medrash, the mothers and girls explored the difference between happiness and wealth. 

Who is the truly rich person?  The one who is happy with his/her portion. It was beautiful to watch as the girls and their mothers literally and figuratively came closer together that evening.
