Updated Results: Lawrence, Hewlett-Woodmere Pass Budgets

Hewlett-Woodmere School District residents voted in favor of passing the 2014-15 budget, reported the district.

Of 2,514 total votes, 1,538 voted in favor of passing the budget compared to 976 "no" votes. The budget garnered 61 percent of the vote.

The district proposed a $111,955,771 budget for the 2014-15 school year. It calls for a 2.14 percent budget-to-budget increase from last year and a 2.10 percent tax levy increase. 

Also, Scott McInnes and Cheryl May were reelected to their second terms on the Board of Education.

Lawrence School District residents passed the $95,615,672 budget Tuesday, reported Newsday.

986 votes were cast in favor of the 2014-15 budget compared with 345 votes against it.
