SD 15 Playgrounds to Soon be Repaired

The Lawrence School District will soon repair the playgrounds at the Number Four and Number Six schools.

A New York State Legislative Bullet Grant will be used for the repairs at the playgrounds. The Six School playground has been closed due to safety concerns.

"Each and every member of the board wants to see the playgrounds made safe for children," said Lawrence Board of Education President Dr. David Sussman. "It's good for the children, good for the community and frankly just what every board member believes in."

District facilities crew are in the process of planning the removal and replacement of the playground equipment at the Number Four School, said facilities director Chris Milano. The work will take about three to four months to complete given the lead times for ordering the equipment.

The safety surfacing at the Six School playground, which is a wood fiber material, will be replenished, Milano said. Work there will be scheduled during the next few weeks. The surfacing material will be installed once it arrives.
