Second in the Country in History

Woodmere Middle School student runner up at National History Bee.

Alec Fischthal, an eighth grade student at Woodmere Middle School, was recently named first runner up at the National History Bee.

Alec, who said he's loved history since he was 3 years old, was a regional winner who then went on to attend the National History Bee in Atlanta on June 1. He competed against 440 students from 47 states at the championship.

Students were tested on their knowledge of history from all eras. In a Jeopardy-style head-to-head competition, Alec was just edged out by the last remaining competitor to be named first runner up.
